Jim Sweney is and will always be the "darling of Tulsa music". He is SO talented and in the 49 years that I've known Jim, I've often thought it a pity that he wasn't brought to greater esteem & recognized for his beautiful talent. The incredible texture of his voice is unforgettable. Of course very few Tulsan's who know anything about Tulsa's fertile musical history, knows Jim Sweney. Jim can sing any song but he really shines when he sings Joe Cocker and too many other songs to mention. I really wish I'd had the money to buy one of his albums from back in the day. And fun memories of Jim performing at the once historic Mystery Theater ? sorry I've forgotten name of bar, it was on Boston Ave. 1970's. He is one of the sweetest souls I've ever known, and one of the best huggers. When my old roomate & I moved from Tulsa to Dallas, in which Jim & his band attended our going away party in 1974, we moved back to Tulsa in 1992, and went to hear him at the Blue Rose I was surprised that he recognized me right away. His fabulous smile, wonderful voice & precious disposition can make anybody's world oh so much better! Tulsa is my "beloved Tulsa" but even more beloved for having this brilliant talent as one of our own. We love you Jimmy....thanks for the wonderful memories! Your friend......Carol Reeder
