Ahna Jennings & Calamity Heart is a band based out of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
2014-2018: Ahna Jennings[]
Ahna Jennings began performing at age 14, in 2014.
In December 2015, at the age of 15, she made headlines after personally renting the Roxy Theater in Muskogee, Oklahoma. In previous years, the venue had consistently hosted a Christmas concert. However, due to an expection of low turnout due to requiring a cover charge, it was up in the air whether or not there would be one that year.
Not wanting to see a year go by without a concert, Ahna scraped together $250 of her own money, earned from playing on the side of the road “just for kicks” in late October at the Fort Gibson Smokin’ the Fort BBQ and Bluegrass Festival. She made enough money in a two-hour session to pay the Roxy rental fee.
At the time, Ahna said she didn’t know what she’d used the money for so she set it aside. As Christmas came around, she decided it was best to use it to gift live music for free.
2018-Present: Calamity Heart[]
Four years after stepping onto the stage for the first time, and a brief period of introspection, Ahna Jennings connected with area musician Kyle Brown, followed by two of the most successful musicians on the Red Dirt/Texas Country music scene, Brad Rice and Donnie Wood. From this fusion, Calamity Heart was born.
The band released their first single, "How I Spend My Nights", independently in 2018. A follow-up album was then announced shortly thereafter, under the title "Gypsy".
